Most of you know that next year is the 100th birthday of the Boy Scouts of America. There are going to be MANY wonderful events that you and your boys will want to participate in. You will get information on many of these at a later time, but we wanted to be sure you knew about this particular one now.

On February 18th, we have the opportunity to attend a council wide gala at Minute Maid Park. Tickets for this event are already on sale. BSA Celebration at Minute Maid Park – Thur., Feb. 18, 2009, 6 pm – 9:30 pm. Tickets are $16 each – ticket price includes box dinner – and this is a family event. If you want to sit together as a den (which BSA suggests), please sign up asap. I suggest you choose one parent in each den to coordinate collecting funds and get the tickets ordered at your earliest convenience. We will talk more about it at our pack meeting next week.

Tracey Weissling is on the team promoting all the events for next year so you can email either of us for more details. (weissling [*Email address: weissling #AT# entouch.net - replace #AT# with @ ]) One of us will get a ticket order form to each den who is interested in attending.

How many of us remember School House Rock? Here is some info on a live presentation of it this weekend. Not exactly Scout-ish, but fun none the less.
Roxie

Hey all. The Theatre Department of Cypress-Ranch High School (Fry Rd, right across from Bridgelands) is doing School House Rock this weekend! Fun show for ALL ages…nostalgic for adults and visually fun for the kiddos!

A flyer is attached but the gist is…Thursday 11/5 (tonight) at 7, Friday 11/6 at 7 and Sat 11/7 at 2 & 7. Tickets at the door or online at http://cyranchtheatre.org/ (only good until 12 hr before show, so too late for tonight).

It’s great fun and we would LOVE to have lots of laughing kids there! Feel free to pass this along to your friends who like theatre and/or who have kids!

For the Bobcat awards, go ahead and have your son wear his uniform for the presentation which we will do early in the meeting and then if they want to change they can.

Thanks
Mike

There is a 70-100% of rain for the day today, including 80% from 6-7 so I am going to cancel the Push Mobile portion of the Pack Meeting for tonight.
We will still have the pumpkin carving judging as well as Bobcat awards for new scouts.
Also, since no push mobile, the boys can wear costumes if they would like.
Also, popcorn money is due tomorrow.
We will also have signups for the district wide push mobile for those interested.

Thanks
Cubmaster Mike

I think the new Tiger dens were ready for the Bobcat awards for this pack meeting, correct? Can the new den leader reply back to me, pack1179 [*Email address: pack1179 #AT# yahoo.com - replace #AT# with @ ] to confirm your den is ready to do their Bobcat awards. Also, I think there were a couple more Bobcats to give out but I forgot whose den that was. Can you let me know.
Also, for new dens as part of the award we "must" pin the award on the scout upside down and then he must do a good deed to turn it right side up. Well to do this the we "must" turn the scout upside down to do that. Please let parents know to come up with the son so they, for safety reasons, can turn their son upside down. If they do not mind, one of the leaders can do it as well, we just want to make sure it is done safely.

Thanks
Mike

I did not have any luck last spring with the college. I was told they did not have a TV dept. There used to be a small radio station near here that was great to go and see but it is closed. A print shop can be used as communication but that is tough.

Check with Lone Star College .
The person who ran their TV or broadcasting dept. (something like that) 4 years
ago (when my Webelos II were Tigers) was a former Scout and a big supporter of
BSA. The kids took a story that they wrote and got to deliver it in front of
the camera and see themselves on TV. It was really cool. I’ll try to
find the guy’s name, but since I didn’t set that one up, it may be
a losing battle.

Sorry to e-mail all of you, but I forget who the tiger den leaders
are.

We are having issues finding a location to cover 4G, go see a TV station,
newspaper or radio station. If any leaders know of a place that is tiger
freindly and not to far from here please let me know.

Thanks

Mark

I apologize if you get this twice. I’m having technology issues today!

The October Pack meeting has moved from October 15th to October 29th at 6:30PM. Boys should bring a carved pumpkin for a competition. Categories will include: Most likely done by the Scout, Scariest, Funniest, Most Elaborate, Best Scout Theme, Boys Favorite and Judges Favorite. We’ll judge each rank separately. Additionally boys will run Pushmobile races outside just for fun. If it rains, we’ll plan to have a costume party indoors instead of the Pushmobile so have a costume handy!
